FREE Hills to Visit Around Missouri
Art Hill, Forest Park (St. Louis) – Probably the most famous sledding hill in Missouri, with a long, consistent slope from the Saint Louis Art Museum down toward the lake; it draws big crowds and has plenty of room to spread out.
Stephens Lake Park (Columbia) – The main sled hill on the east side of the lake is specifically promoted by the city for winter sports, with a nearby bonfire area and heated restrooms open year‑round, which is helpful with kids.Cold Plunges
Brookside Park “Suicide Hill” (Kansas City) – Regularly mentioned as a classic KC sled spot, with a long, fast run when snow is good; it is a neighborhood park so access is free, but it can be busy after big storms
Springfield city parks – In southwest Missouri, Doling Park, Jordan Valley Park, and Lake Springfield Park are all flagged by local outdoor guides as good sledding hills, with varied slopes and easy access from town, and no admission fee for the park areas.
