Races all through January - No Excuses

We all want to be better at running but no one wants to get on the hamster wheel in a packed gym.
No matter how cold it is I prefer running outside, if possible. Plus, nothing motivates me like paying for a race and having a deadline!
Start Small - Kansas City, Missouri Fun Runs – January Calendar
Getting started in running means starting small, and slow. You don’t want to burnout. In KC, there are a lot of fun run options available across the state. Low‑key winter races perfect for New Year motivation and building running confidence. Also there are themed runs like Run for Donuts.
10k Races Across Missouri
If you are already a little further along in your running journey, check out these races in January.
Glencoe, Mo - Stick Season Trail Run Series
STL - SHITR - Shivery Icy Trail Run
Springfield, Mo - Time Traveler
Polar Plunges Across Missouri
Get rid of all that 2025 inflammation by hopping in near frozen water. There are a dozen or so Polar plunges going down across the state so get your team together and help support the Special Olympics.
Unique Place to Hike: Tower Rock

Credit Barry Medley
This is one of the most unique spots around Missouri. In the middle of the Mississippi River the Tower Rock stands proud and when the river level is low enough, you can walk to it! Would be a great winter hike especially if the river freezes into a bunch of ice chunks!

Outdoor Jobs
Animal of the week: Feral Hog
Recently 2 state parks were closed so the Dept of Conservation could gun them down from a helicopter
They destroy habitats for native animals and if you see them, Report Feral Hog Sightings and Damage to 573-522-4115 ext. 3296 or Online.
